With the launch of Starcraft 2 on the 27th July, all of us at Cybergamer are excited to declare that we have secured $3000 in prizemoney for a Starcraft 2 ladder. The generous key sponsor is Guf, in conjunction with CyberBUNKER - Australia's leading game centres.
This is serious money and there is only one way to get it – come into one of the participating game centres, meet other gamers and then play online to beat your opponent on the Cybergamer SC2 ladder. It's that easy: if you are from Geelong, Ballarat or Shepparton you are set to compete in a ferociously fun eSports competition. If you live elsewhere, perhaps you should hassle your local game centre to contact us to find out how to get involved!
"Guf has a long history of organising eSports with big prize money. Our local gamers have made Guf a great place to hang out and play games and we appreciate it" declares Mark Carter, director of Guf. "Gaming related companies have always struggled to identify whether competitive gamers are really buying their products. I'm lucky that I can look around my shops, see the gamers packing the place out, spending their dollars and having loads of fun. It makes it an easy decision to give back some of those dollars in the form of prize money."
Over the years, Guf have run WCG and CPL qualifiers, not to mention $1000 tournaments just for fun. Cybergamer is thrilled to be involved with Australia's leading game centres for this massive Starcraft 2 event, spring-boarding off what will be the biggest game launch for 2010.
Ruleset to be Announced in the coming days.
