With the extended previous Major Series season concluding some four months ago, ESL management are ready to have their 10th season kick off and except for Counter-Strike: Source, Call of Duty 4 is awarded the biggest prize purse of all selected games.
The previous season saw Call of Duty 4 re-enter into the game pool, a welcome sight for the competitive FPS community. During the ESL Major Series Season IX teams from across Europe battled it out for a coveted play-off spot, and of course a chance to win the €2,500 prize fund. Eventually it came down to the final two, seeing Western Wolves defeat tournament favourites Anexis eSports in an action packing finale.
Since the Major Series started all the way back during the summer of 2007 the Electronic Esports League has hosted an impressive nine seasons spanning over thirty games, giving out over 179,000 Euros of prize money, an impressive feat for any organization.
