AGGN - League of Legends Online Tournament

Posted on Thursday, 17 May 2012 in PC: League of Legends

In the AGGN Razer Tournament, our Fray` LoL team have a TRUE BATTLE ahead of them. After being forfieted in the first round by "Riot is our thing" we have been forced down the long road of the losers bracket.

Having just defeated Clan Carnage last night, Fray is full steam ahead to go up against:

Team Gengar - Tonight (BO1)

Riot Is Our Thing - Friday night (BO1) - Semifinals

Team Gamecom - Saturday (2x BO3) - Grandfinals

Coming from the losers bracket means we have a 1 round defecit. We have to beat Gamecom in 2 BO3s to be crowned victors. With a whole swag of prizes in sight and above all else the glory of clawing our way up from the bottom, you will surely be in for good show.

Be sure to check the CG LoL forums for stream links closer to the play times.

All for now,

fray` attend ACL Sydney!

Posted on Thursday, 03 May 2012 in fray` General News

April was an intense month for the Frenetic Array Xbox MW3 team with two LAN events on consecutive weekends. The team came away with a 1st place finish at ESGN Melbourne, and a 2nd place finish at ACL Sydney, racking up over $2,500 in prize money. The most recent even was the ACLPro Sydney LAN, on the 21-22 of April, and as always Fray had tough competition with the likes of Mindfreak, Vox Eminor & Cruelty Incarnate in attendance.

It also left our FIFA 12 player, Muzza, playing in 3 different events in the colossal month of April, one in Melbourne, one in Sydney & even one in New York City, USA (which a wrap up will be released to separately). Muzza walked away with a 4th place finish at ESGN, a 3rd place finish at ACL, and a top 32 finish out of 256 players at the Virgin Gaming Challenge Series in New York last week.

After Fray MW3’s 1st place finish at the ESGN Melbourne LAN the weekend before, they went into ACL as firm favourites to take the event just as they have taken out the past 3 Xbox LAN events. After putting Mindfreak in their place in Melbourne, Mindfreak were out for revenge in Sydney and it was some of the fiercest competition Australia has seen from the Xbox COD scene.

The event really fired up from the 3rd round of the winner bracket, with Frenetic Array going up against powerhouse team Vox Eminor, convincingly defeating them and knocking them into the losers bracket. Cruelty Incarnate also joined VoxE in the bracket after being slapped down by Mindfreak, sending MF to play Fray in the semis.

Convincingly the top 2 teams in the country, the two dominant forces went head to head with everything they had, but it was Frenetic Array who came out on top in their forever present stylish fashion, gaining a 3-2 win knocking MF into the loser bracket.

Mindfreak kept their heads high however, defeating Cruelty Incarnate (who respectively knocked out Vox Eminor from the competition) gaining MF a spot in the grand final coming up against Frenetic Array. Another best of 11 series, just like the Gold Coast LAN in January which Fray came out on top of against Vox Eminor, it went game for game in the series.

After some extreme games, and some severe, yet ever so entertaining friendly banter hurling across the stage, it came down to the 11th game. Unfortunately for Frenetic Array, Mindfreak won the series claiming the title of ACL Sydney Champions. Fortunately for Frenetic Array, they are still regarded as one of, if not the best team in Australia and retain the crown of 2011 National Champions and are aiming to keep that title for 2012! Mindfreak played outstanding and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the 2012 season.

Our FIFA player Muzza, didn’t have the best of luck at ACL bowing out in 3rd place behind Carnage player, Ninja Brett and Immunity’s Skip. Always friendly competition, it was unfortunate that Muzza lost his first ever ACL event, after having a 9 win streak on this circuit in the past. Skip had defeated Muzza in the winners bracket sending him back to the losers bracket, where he faced Todd. Defeating Todd convincingly, Muzza went on to play Ninja Brett, unfortunately losing and being knocked out of the ACL Sydney event.

A big thank you to our sponsors & friends Razer, Gametraders & Patriot Memory for getting us to these events and for all their support!

For those who didn't see it, here is our ACL Sydney 2011 interview located on the ACLPro YouTube Channel.

fray` Muzza off to New York!

Posted on Tuesday, 24 April 2012 in fray` General News

The pressure is on for our FIFA 12 player Kieran ‘Muzza’ Murray this week as he prepares to fly to New York tomorrow for the Virgin Gaming Challenge Series for a chance to win a share in a $400,000 prize pool dedicated to the competitive title. Muzza registered for the tournament at the lowest level, winning his first two matches in his pool for the qualifiers, before being contacted with congratulations of being accepted to go to the USA and compete in this event against 256 of the world’s best FIFA players.

Kieran is not the only Australian player to attend this event, joined by several other high-end FIFA players who have been friendly competition in the past. However, time and time again, Muzza has proven that he is the best Australia has to offer, and he intends to prove that in New York this week as he battles for the first place prize of $167,000 and the title of being the best FIFA player in the world.

With a quiet, but fierce confidence, Muzza himself is expecting to go exceptionally well at this competition using the advantage of not being overly internationally recognised in the world-wide FIFA community, using that as a stealthy weapon to display his raw talent and adversity to the game.

Kieran was able to share a few words from his intense schedule of study & practicing for the series:

“I'm looking forward to not just representing the Frenetic Array name, but wearing the tag with pride at my second international event. It should be a lot of fun, and I intend to come back with a good result!”

Muzza will arrive in New York City on Wednesday night, and will be departing Sunday afternoon. Frenetic Array wishes him the best of luck and we know he will do Australia proud!

fray` NVIDIA Gear Up for Battle

Posted on Tuesday, 24 April 2012 in fray` General News

The NVIDIA Gear Up for Battle competition. For just two days in the heart of Melbourne, the top 8 Call of Duty 4 PC teams Australia has to offer, will come together to fight for the title of being the elite team of this nation. Fray’COD sailed through pool play with 5 wins and 0 losses, racking up 80 points for and only 23 points against, thus enabling the team to be at the IBISQ LAN Centre in Melbourne this weekend to battle it out to be recognised as the utmost supreme team in Australia.

All eyes will be on the Frenetic Array COD4 roster consisting of Josh, Stace, Prawny, Dutchpride & Kenji for this event, as the two New Zealanders, Dutch and Kenji make the trek over from their home country as a sign of their passion, diligence and commitment to the Frenetic Array name, their team & esports. Previously missing out on the chance to compete in the Alienware 2010 challenge due to region restrictions, Kenji and Dutchpride are looking to step it up and show the community why they are two of the best that NZ has to offer.

Not only will the team be competing for the number one title, but also a share in the $12,000 prize pool on offer from NVIDIA & Gigabyte. As the hype builds this week, prestige, grandeur & pride await for the team this weekend.

Muzza wins FIWC Melbourne Qualifier

Posted on Monday, 26 March 2012 in fray` Team News

Frenetic Array’s FIFA player, Muzza255, has taken out the FIFA Interactive World Cup Melbourne Qualifier in outstanding fashion. The 32-player event was one of eight to be held around the country last Thursday evening, with a paid trip to Sydney to compete in the national final up for grabs.

The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC), is the largest annual FIFA tournament in the world and is held using the PS3 version of the title. Every year, players from a vast range of nations compete in what is one of the most grueling qualification systems for a major tournament; the sheer volume of entrants and the best of one, single elimination format combine to make it extremely difficult even for the best.

Muzza was noticeably nervous going into the event, but he was able to relax as soon as he scored his first goal around a quarter of the way through his first match. With confidence he quickly added a second to make sure of the result. Given the ‘best of one’ format, a two-goal lead is often unassailable. By the full time whistle, Muzza had added three more goals in what was a powerful and impressive 5 – 0 victory.

In the round of 16 and the quarter finals, Muzza continued to show why he is the best in the country, posting impressive results in both games with 4 – 1 and 3 – 0 wins respectively. In his semi-final, however, he was not able to put the game beyond doubt until very late, eventually winning 3 – 1. It was a tougher match and Muzza felt he was not playing his best, though he was putting in some very impressive defensive displays, locking out his opponents throughout the night.

Muzza’s amazing defensive form continued in the grand final. After striking first with what might be considered a lucky goal, he did not allow his opponent any room to finish. He swiftly added two more goals to make it 3 – 0, clinching the match and the entire tournament, for which he received a round of applause. Muzza’s dominant display was highlighted by two key facts. Throughout the tournament he only conceded two goals whilst scoring 18 of his own, and at no point did he ever fall behind in a game.

The result means that Muzza will now travel to Sydney and meet up with the seven other finalists, where they will compete in the national final. The winner of the national final will be flown overseas to play in the world final, where the winner will take home $20,000 USD.

Fray Xbox CoD team gears up for upcoming LANs

Posted on Tuesday, 20 March 2012 in fray` General News

The Frenetic Array Xbox Call of Duty team has had an interesting time in the past couple of months, including a significant roster change that has reinvigorated the team.

After coming off a high that was their epic 2011 season, the team decided to have a short break from the game, with star players Renzy and Geemon both needing to attend to more important matters in their personal lives. There was a clear indication at the time that the community felt as though there were a cloud of doubt over the team and its future. This was not true, however, as the fray players always maintained that they would not be going away.

With this break period, Renzy decided that he must focus on his personal life, and opted to leave the team. The players wished him all the best with what he needed to do, but immediately began searching for a replacement. They identified the perfect replacement to be none other than ‘Baked Poslayto’, a long time community member with countless experience at the highest level.

Geemon explained, “We had become inactive, stagnant and we weren’t playing for the right reasons.”
With Baked in the team, and also a tweaking of their game style, they were able to rediscover that desire to play.
“We decided we wanted to get back to being the best team in Australia, like we did when we came into Black Ops”, Geemon continued.

With two major LANs coming in the next month, both ESGN Melbourne and ACL Pro Sydney, the team has been working hard, scrimming a lot, and testing new strategies in order to iron out the kinks in their game play. They have also been playing a lot of 2 v 2 matches between themselves to gain a better understanding of each other and increase the quality of their teamwork.

With the 2nd ACL Online Round of the season having taken place over the weekend past, the fray team were looking to put in a good performance, but unfortunately they just fell short, being eliminated two rounds from the grand final. Although they were aiming for a better result, this tournament gave them the opportunity to test their new line up under the pressures of a competitive environment, and will put them in a good position going into the upcoming LANs, which they expect to win.
